Aging Clay Pots

Thank Heaven for the 99Cent store! They had a good size clay pot for under $1...Yea! I'm one that loves the old world charm however so I decided to give them an aged/antique look. Here is what you do:
Collect moss from around your yard (yes, I over water)
Finely chop the moss up and allwo to dry for a couple days
Then mix toghether in a large bucket (I used an old OJ jar)
1 C flour
2 C buttermilk
2 packages active dry yeast
2 TBS corn syrup
1 C dried, crumbled moss
Once the above is mixed together, but the container in full sun for 3 days. When the mixture is good and smelly, brush it generously on the outsides of your clay pots. Then wrap the pots in plastic wrap and put them in the full sun. In two weeks the pots will start to grow mold, and by eight weeks the pots will be nice and furry with moss, looking very old and you will think you live in a villa in Spain...okay, now I'm dreaming!

  1. okay...I'm a little upset! My pots were doing really good, they were growing. Well, one day I noticed that the pots were all turned over. The dogs had knocked them over, somehow undid the plastic wrap and licked off all the yuck. Dogs!
