The cabin... continues

it has been FOREVER since I've talked about the cabin. Maybe because I feel it will be FOREVER before it is finished! But we are saving money by doing everything ourselves. We are almost done sanding the entire inside. wow, what a job! At least it didn't take as long as sanding the entire outside.
Thought I'd share some of our work....

this project is only possible because of these two incredible men... my dear husband and wonderful son who is always willing to help!

I was experimenting finishes.... The logs on top and bottom have not yet been sanded. The ones in the middle with a gloss is the finish that I wantAs you can see.... logs on left-sanded, logs on right-UGLY!

A special thanks to my daughter who is the best wire pulling, cleaning, and vacuum girl ever!

It is a victory when one room gets done!

addicted to.... DISH SOAP!

I bought some dish soap about 4 months ago and paid WAY too much. However, since I've had THIS dish soap, I like to do dishes. I even mop the floors everyday with it, and get excited how good it smells. So, I decided to quit feeling guilty for spending the money on the dish soap, it's much less expensive than a housekeeper, and I've never been this excited to clean.

I went online to find where I can buy some more, and compare prices. I found the actual Farmhouse website. http://www.farmhousewares.com/ Well, needless to say, it is now my favorite online store, and mama wants these baskets!

Well, I only bought cleaning stuff, so I can look forward to a clean house.. I even bought the laundry soap. I really dislike doing laundry... and somehow I can't wait to sit in the laundry room folding clothes that smell like lavender all day.

These boxes may be my next purchase

It's the Final Countdown....

Okay, today is Wednesday, that means in 3 days it is Saturday (for all of you who don't know how the calendar works).

My baby leaves for college in 3 really short days. I'm a little scared... the time has arrived to be empty nesters.... boo-hoo.

It is hard to believe how fast 18 years will pass when you are having fun.

I need prayer.... and a new dog!

A PARTY FOR THE QUEEN BEE!

bee....70!

the Sweet Bar

Mom was celebrating her 70th birthday so we decided to have all of her friends swarm over to my hive for a party. It was so fun. Nothing like a bunch of ladies, playing silly games, line dancing, blowing bubbles, and eating yummy food.

playing the "bee fact" game and bee'ing silly

I've been so blessed to have such a wonderful mom...

she is the greatest queen bee EVER!

Hen House Hilton

Well we decided to kill two chickens last week...
and I must admit I felt like a mean Mrs. Tweedy (chicken run)
cleaning those birds.
Mr. Tweedy told me, "if those chickens don't start laying eggs and having babies we will eat them all." Personally, eating one of the chickens made me want to vomit. Somehow, chemical and water pumped chickens from the freezer at the grocery store, dont make me as nauseous!

So we built a little hotel for them yesterday. As we were thinking about how to build a nesting place, I remembered we had some old old window frames in a shed. So the idea came!

Built a box, put on legs, painted it white, and attached the frame.... wham!

Now I want to make a sign for the top. What should I name???

Hen House Hilton or Mrs. Tweedy's Bed and Egg-fest
I'd love suggestions!
